About Extreme Air Gymnastics Academy

At Extreme Air Gymnastics Academy we are dedicated to providing each student with the opportunity to develop his/her motor skills through a progressive tumbling system.  The fun and friendly atmosphere allows students the ability to attain personal growth and success by offering students the opportunity to improve self-esteem and self-confidence through the athletic experience.

Tammy Lackland

Coach/Owner

Tammy Lackland has been coaching for 14 years beginning her coaching career with L&M Gym and Kids. Currently, she continues her tenure in the sport by serving as the co-owner of Extreme Air Gymnastics Academy which she co-founded with her husband, Jonathan Lackland, in August of 2012. Her role as a coach has also allowed her to serve as a life coach helping athletes and their families navigate life’s consistent stressors and struggles through her training as a certified life coach which she obtained in June 2020.


Being a coach has afforded her the unique opportunity to assist young members of the community to recognize and achieve their full potential in the sport of tumbling and trampoline. She has had the honor of coaching numerous state and national champions, Junior Olympic Gold Medalists and High Point Award recipients. In addition, she has coached athletes on the Amateur Athletic Union(AAU), AAU Stars of Tomorrow, AAU National Team and United States Trampoline and Tumbling Association(USTA) Elite National Teams and the USTA All Star Team.


Tammy is a member of the USTA and USA Gymnastics(USAG) and holds certifications as a USA Gymnastics University Instructor, USTA Safety Certification, USAG Safety & Risk Management, Life Coach and the United States Olympic Committee(USOC) SafeSport. Further, she was awarded the Marge Mazotti Southern Illinois Coach of the year for 2020. 

Dr. Jonathan W. Lackland

Coach/Owner

Dr. Jonathan Lackland has been a member of the United States Tumbling and Trampoline Association for 11 years initially assisting injured athletes and coaching for L&M and Kids. Currently, he continues his tenure in the sport serving as the co-owner of Extreme Air Gymnastics Academy located in Springfield, IL.


His work as a coach has afforded him the unique opportunity to assist young people and families in recognizing their potential in the sport.  He has been privileged to see many athletes become National Champions, Junior Olympic Gold Medalists and High Point Award recipients. He has coached members on the AAU Stars of Tomorrow, AAU National Team and USTA Elite National Teams.


Educationally, he has earned a Doctorate in Integrative Medicine, Doctorate in Natural Medicine and a Doctorate in Alternative Medicine from Quantum University; a Master of Public Administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield, and a Bachelor of Science from Bradley University. Additionally, he holds Board Certification from the Board of Natural Medicine Doctors and Practitioners; is a registered Osteomyologist through the Association of Osteomyologists; and is registered to practice Orthomolecular Medicine through the International Association of Orthomolecular Medicine.


Coach Jonathan currently holds the following certifications: USA Gymnastics University Instructor, USTA Safety Certification, USAG Safety & Risk Management, and the USOC SafeSport. 

 Patrick Fugate

Coach

Patrick Fugate has been a member of the United States Tumbling and Trampoline Association for 9 years initially as a parent. He began his career in the USTA as an NTJC judge in 2007 judging tumbling. He later began coaching athletes for L&M Gym and Kids in 2008. Currently, he continues both his judging career being certified in both Tumbling and Double-Mini and coaching at Extreme Air Gymnastics Academy located in Springfield, IL.


His work as a coach has afforded him the opportunity to assist young members of the community to recognize and reach their full potential in the sport of tumbling and trampolining. He has had the honor of coaching numerous State and National Champions, Junior Olympic Gold Medalists and High Point Award recipients. He has coached members on the AAU Stars of Tomorrow, AAU National Team and USTA Elite National Teams.


His work as a judge has afforded him the opportunity to better understand the rules surrounding the sport and to assist the gymnasts on his team to consistently attain higher scores. He has judged numerous invitational and state meets. He continually works with his fellow coaching peers to help them better understand the rules surrounding the sport.


Educationally, he has earned his Bachelor's Degree in the field of Computer Science. He has worked in the Computer Science field for the past 26 years, maintaining jobs as a Network Administrator, Security Analyst, Programmer Analyst and most recently as an IT Department Manager. He works day to day, with different bureaus, within the Illinois Department of Transportation in mediating resolutions for intra-bureau affairs. He holds numerous Microsoft and CompTIA certifications.


Coach Patrick currently holds the following certifications: USA Gymnastics University Instructor, USTA Safety Certification, USAG Safety & Risk Management, and the USOC SafeSport. 


Ali Baker

Coach

Coach Ali started life as a gymnast at age 7 and competed for 7 years. She started coaching at age 16 and has been coaching in some form ever since. Always having wanted to run away with the circus, she has taken flying trapeze and aerial silks classes. She takes advantage of the adult class to get her bounce on! Coach Ali loves working with the athletes at Extreme Air and her loud voice can be heard saying "Suck your spaghetti!", "Squeeze your tooty booty!" and" POINT YOUR TOES!". Coach Ali is mom to Extreme Air athlete Liam and SEMO student Bradley, and wife of Curtis. Her other job is being an RN for Advanced Healthcare Services. In her free time, Coach Ali likes going for walks, reading and doing crafts. "I love our small gym with a big heart!".

Stefanie Bridges

Social Media

Stefanie Bridges has been associated with Extreme Air Gymnastics Academy since 2013. She began this relationship when her daughter, Delaney, joined the Tots class at the Auburn location. After Tots and Rec classes comes Team Extreme where Stefanie’s daughter is a current member. Stefanie has stayed with Extreme Air through 4 building moves proving this gym is worth following!

 

 

Stefanie is currently the administrator for Extreme Air Gymnastics Academy Facebook, Instagram, and web pages. Stefanie continues assisting with fundraisers and works as the Extreme Air team meets MC.

 

 

Educationally, Stefanie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English, with an emphasis of American Literature. Stefanie found an interest in the media and journalism while working at a University television and radio station.
